It is with a heavy heart that I announce the loss of our GCFAA Courier, Dave Meyer. Dave moved to Grapevine from MO and became active at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Colleyville. He also volunteered as a Citizen Academy Alumni for both the Grapevine Fire and Police Departments. He had been a supervisory auditor for the department of Defense, and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) for over 30 years.
We will miss him both as a colleague, and especially as a friend. Please keep Kathy and Dave's family in your thoughts and prayers, and live each day with gratefulness for the time you are given.

James McKenzie drowned in Grapevine Lake near Oak Grove Park. He was a fireman/paramedic for the Grapevine Fire Department and part of the honor guard and dive team. He loved being Flash, a clown with the Bucket Safety Brigade. He loved his family, wholeheartedly. He loved people and used his gifts of giving and serving to minister to their needs. Above all else, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ and wanted his life to glorify God in all he did.
The Grapevine Fire Dept has created the Loan-A-Life-Jacket program, which allows swimmers(adults & children) to borrow a life jacket during the summer. To help his family with expenses, please contribute at: gofundme.com/FFMcKenzie

It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of Jerry Shacklett. He started his public service career as a volunteer at the Riverside County, CA Fire Department. Jerry enjoyed fighting fires because of the service it provided people and because each task was different. A year later, at 23, he was hired as a firefighter at John Wayne Airport. Three years later, Shacklett became a paramedic. Then in 1978, he trained to become a rescue worker. He served on CA Task Force 5 and responded to the OK City bombing in 1995.
Jerry was a GCFA graduate and worked with the USCG Auxiliary on the lake. Please keep Jerry's family in your prayers.
